According to Premium  Times, the jihadists made a claim two weeks ago through a publication in their propaganda magazine.

The group said it could repeat the pattern used for drug trafficking through West Africa, which is even easier with the presence of Boko Haram.

ISIS, which has been recently linked with Boko Haram, characterized the Nigerian army as “an exhausted and smashed national army that is now in a virtual state of collapse”. The extremists insisted that their Nigerian “colleagues” were in control of the majority of the country territory, with no intention to stop.

The past two months have been marked by a series of grand victories for the Nigerian army. The military not only reclaimed a number of strategic towns, but rescued hundreds of women and children from captivity. The most sensational operations were recorded in  Sambisa Forest.

However, yesterday Boko Haram released a fresh video rejecting the claims by the military. The footage contains: “Most of our territory is still under our control.” Moreover, the video bears the new logo “Islamic State in West Africa” which again indicates of the group’s allegiance to ISIS.
