Crack In APC To Deepen As PDP Adopts Saraki, Dogara For National Assembly Leadership

DOGARA-LAWAN

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) might have widen the crack in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over National Assembly leadership as the party said it has adopted Senator Bukola Saraki for the position of Senate President in the election to be held today.

The PDP has also adopted Hon. Yakubu Dogara for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

In a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the party urged its senators and members-elect in the House of Representatives to support its candidates.

“The party therefore urges its senators and members-elect in the National Assembly to act accordingly,” the statement read.

Saraki and Dogara had felt harshly done by when the APC chose Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila respectively, in a mock election held by the party. The party had urged members to support its candidates but the supporters of Saraki and Dogara had differeed, asking the party to leave the choice to the elected lawmakers.

Barring any last minute changes, Saraki and Dogara are expected to emerge leaders of the Senate and house of Representatives, with the support from the PDP
