Chad’s Les Sao Arrive in Kaduna Without Training Apparel

Chad senior national team arrived Nigeria for a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification game without training kits and equipment, claiming their airline had forgotten them in France.

After earlier fears that their training programme might have been disrupted, the Les Sao finally took to the pitch of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Friday afternoon (4:00pm) in match jerseys, begging for balls.

Coach Emmanuel Tregoat had also expressed concerns about his side’s readiness for the Afcon qualifier, suggesting they might have to wait for the airline to locate and return their apparels before the match slated for Saturday.

The Super Eagles have, on their own part, set their sight on returning to winning ways, begin with the Match Day 1 encounter at home to Chad.

Nigeria won their third Afcon title in South Africa in 2013 but failed to qualify for this year’s tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

And with coach Stephen Keshi fully back on the national team job, the Eagles have vowed to take every opportunity as they come in the course of the qualifying campaign.

Elsewhere in Group G, Egypt entertain Tanzania also looking to snap their absence from the last three tournaments. The six-time winners have failed to qualify for the African premier football event since lifting the trophy in Angola in 2010.

Nigeria-Chad kicks off 4:00pm.
