Ambode Wrong To Blame Tanker Drivers For Recent Road Crashes, Fire Incidents In Lagos – PDP

2Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has told the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to stop blaming tanker drivers for recent road crashes and fire incidents in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Taofik Gani, the PDP stated that the warning given to tanker drivers plying Lagos roads by the All Progressives Congress-led government was misplaced.

PDP also condemned the APC for “playing the ostrich and being diversionary” concerning various accidents occuring on Lagos roads.

“This is in a manner that suggests that the drivers could avert accidents”, the statement said.

According to the PDP, the state government should be held liable for abandoning the state roads and not road users.

The statement, therefore, urged Ambode to avert future tanker accidents by immediately embarking on mapping out “exclusive roads for heavy duty vehicles, including tankers conveying fuel”.

“Of urgent importance is for the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to copy from the Rivers State Governor, Wike Nyesom, who recently declared a zero tolerance to pot-holes on roads in the state. Governor Ambode should also not look the other way on the rising threats of miscreants on the roads.

“These miscreants boldly take over our roads to stop vehicles abruptly just to extort money. Their activities have led to accidents on our roads. This (APC) government must now hit the ground running by handling the rehabilitation of our roads and effect the immediate clearing of drainage which would be a landmark if achieved.

“It is unfair to blame the people of causing road accidents or flooding when in actual fact the state government agencies responsible for correcting citizens’ inadequacies have neglected their duties”, the statement said.

The PDP also called on spiritualists to embark on “fervent prayers to avert further mishaps in the state under this administration.

“Ambode should work and deal with any human or administrative hindrances. Lagosians are tired of excuses”, the PDP added.

Hello! The eagles have landed. Is there any sense in this criticism? Are the roads where the mishaps happened not federal road abandoned by Jonathan’s administration? Criticism without logic is only seeking attention from the Lagosians. The Lagos PDP should should criticise with facts, not trying to cause disaffection between the government and the masses.

In his letter, Senator Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
