Sterling To Tell Liverpool He Wants Out Of Anfield

Liverpool winger, Raheem Sterling is expected to hand in a transfer request in the coming days.

The England international has already expressed his desire to join a title-winning team having recently turned down a new £100,000-per-week contract.

The BBC Sport reports that the forward will meet Reds chief executive Ian Ayre and Rodgers on Friday, when he is expected to tell the club’s management his desire to quit Anfield.

Liverpool have not commented on this development but are thought to be keen on retaining the services of the 20-year-old.

Sterling who currently earns in the region of £35,000 a week, is under contract at the Merseyside club until 2017.

Manchester City, Arsenal and a host of top European clubs are currently in the running for the forward’s signature. Liverpool are not expected to sell the player for any fee below £35m.

Liverpool have not won any trophy since their 2012 League Cup triumph and lost out on a Champions League slot for next season.

Sterling in a recent interview with the BBC said he was no “money-grabbing 20-year-old” and talked about “winning trophies.”
