Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed says the dwindling monthly allocations from the federation account has put states in a very tight corner financially.

Speaking at this year’s Workers’ Day celebration in Ilorin on Friday, the governor, therefore, urged Nigerian workers to be ready to make sacrifices to move the state forward.

“Government remains committed to sustain and improve the welfare and well-being of civil servants in the state. But we all must be ready to make good sacrifices for the development of the state,” he said.

Several states across the country owe workers salaries running into months due to reduced allocations from the federation account.

Analysts have lamented the total dependence of most of the states in the country, on the federal government. They urged states to start looking within for their development rather than waiting for monthly allocations to get things done.
