PDP chieftain rallies support for Saraki’s Senate President bid

Bukola SarakiA leader of the Peo­ples Democratic Party (PDP) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), Chief Abiola Ogundokun, has drummed up support for the aspiration of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to become the next Senate President.

In a statement made available to journalists on Friday, Ogundokun said Saraki, who is a two-term governor of Kwara State, has intimidating credentials that place him far ahead of other contestants for the Senate top job.

He particularly referred to how Senator Saraki was able to hold the people of Kwara together and lead the state for two terms of eight years as governor af­ter gathering a formidable professional experience in the nation’s banking indus­try.

Ogundokun also said the upper chamber of the National Assembly needed the former governor’s political expo­sure and maturity to bring members with diverse as­pirations for their various constituents together in the overall interest of the na­tion.

According to him: “Sen­ator Bukola Saraki is test­ed, trusted and reliable. He has proved his capability in public service by show­ing tremendous capacity in building on his late father’s legacies.

“The leadership of Bu­kola Saraki will not only help to stabilize and create much more support for the president-elect Gen. Mu­hammadu Buhari, Bukola is an asset for national uni­ty because of his national unity acceptance as apostle of politics without bitter­ness.

“He laid a good founda­tion for the All Progres­sives Congress campaign rallies with the debut hold­ing in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State. The rally was a huge success. He threw all he had into it to ensure the party holds a firm grip on the state”.

Ogundokun described Saraki as a political bridge builder, working with other APC leaders with open­ness and sincerity to en­sure all geo-political zones are united and in peace for rapid national development and growth.
