NWC Members To Remain Despite Muazu’s Resignation

The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus says members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party would not resign as being canvassed by some members.

Secondus said this while speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He noted that there was no reason for any of the remaining NWC members to resign following the resignation of former chairman Adamu Muazu, as their stay in office is tenured.

The acting chairman also debunked insinuations that Muazu was forced to resign. “You know that is not right, it is unconstitutional, because the chairman did that voluntarily, and the BoT Chairman also did that voluntarily. Some of the others have tenures, at the end of our tenure if we are re-elected, fine, if not that is the right thing to do.”

“There is no reason for us to resign because we have worked hard,” Secondus said.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih had also resigned from his post, but Secondus claimed that it was just a coincidence. “Sometimes it happens that way. Nobody forced them to go.”
