GloNPFL: Gabros Edge Sharks to Move Joint-Top

Glo Premier League champions Kano Pillars and last season’s runners-up Enyimba claimed big wins away from home on Match Day nine, as Ifeanyi Ubah United moved joint-top of the Standings with victory at home to Sharks.

Gabros Int. FC 1-0 Sharks FC

A Jamiu Alimi own goal in the 77th minute helped Gabros secure their fifth win of the season at the expense of Sharks.

The visitors from Port-Harcourt ended the match with ten men after Chima Akas was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Gabros are thus level on points (17) with leaders Sunshine Stars and only trail by virtue of goals scored, having scored a goal less and conceded six times.

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi was in the stands to watch the likes of Akas, who unfortunately ended his participation abruptly on 77 minutes, and Nathaniel Joseph; the Sharks duo who have been called up for international duty ahead of an Afcon 2017 qualifier against Chad.

Wikki Tourists 1-0 Lobi Stars

Uche Martins scored the match-winning goal for Wikki, who also surged to third position in the Glo Premier League table.

Martins converted from the penalty spot on 76 minutes after a Lobi Defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

Lobi are without a win in nine matches and are rooted to the bottom of the table.

Abia Warriors 0-1 Kano Pillars

Pillars pipped Abia to sixth place in the table after a hard fought victory in Umuahia.

Adams Hassan volleyed in Ubong Ekpai’s cross to hand the visitors an advantage in the 4th minute.

The reigning champions now have 15 points from a possible 27, while Abia remain on 13 points.
