Glo NPFL: Sunshine Take Lead Into Break, Pillars, Enyimba on the Chase

Sunshine Stars maintain a two-point lead into the fresh three-week Glo Premier League break, while Champions Kano Pillars and Enyimba international keep pace in second and third positions after Match Day 10.

Lobi Stars however snapped their run of nine winless games with a 1-0 success over Heartland in Markurdi, as Akwa United returned to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 win over 3SC.

Enyimba 3-1 El-Kanemi Warriors

Enyimba made case for their title ambitions with a comfortable victory over visiting El-Kanemi Warrior, courtesy of a Markson Ojobo’s brace, both from 12 yards and Peter Onyekachi’s effort.

The Peoples Elephants were rarely trouble by their guest and Ojobo needed only 19 minutes to place them on the front foot.

Onyekachi doubled the lead two minutes after the restart, but Dauda Eboh pulled one back for El-Kanemi 6 minutes after the hour mark.

Ojobo restored Enyimba’s one-goal cushion fifteen minutes from time to take the 6-time champions to within two points of leaders Sunshine Stars and level on points with Kano Pillars but adrift on goal difference.

Akwa United 2-1 Shooting Stars

Always United rebounded from their early days blip with a 2-1 win over Shooting Stars on Wednesday.

Olukokun Najeem opened scoring in the 24th minute from a header. Aniekpeno Udoh stored parity for the Akwa in the 59th minute, before Nnamso Edo blasted home the winner from the spot in the 73rd minute.
