De Gea Will Reject Real Madrid, Says Van Gaal

David de Gea will ignore advances from Real Madrid and stay with Manchester United, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move back to his native, with Real Madrid reportedly his possible destination.

De Gea, who has two years left in his current deal, has put a fresh £200,000-a-week deal on hold, but the Dutch manager is confident the 24-year-old will steer clear of rumoured transfer to the Santiago Bernebeu.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper could even feature at Hull in the final game of the season.

Asked if Victor Valdes could be elevated as first-choice goalkeeper in the case De Gea leaves, Van Gaal said: “First we have to see if David De Gea is leaving, then we shall talk about other things.

“But I still believe David will stay. And I want to play him against Hull, because I want to play my strongest team. And I think my strongest team must include David.”

The manager also hinted on a handful of players whom he expect to exit Old Trafford in the close season, but did not mention names.

“You know that I shall talk with them – we will have a farewell drink after the match (at the KC stadium). I have the Monday to talk [as well]. I have spoken to some players this week. You have to wait and see how these talks develop in terms of players staying or going away,” he told MUTV.
