Wenger, Giroud Claim Barclays Awards for March

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has scooped the Barclays manager of the month award, as striker Olivier Giroud claim the player of the month prize.

Arsenal recorded four straight wins in March, scoring nine goals and conceding twice to maintain their push for top four finish.

Currently third in the league table, the Gunners trail leaders Chelsea, who have a game in hand, by seven points, with eight matches left to the end of the season.

It is the 14 time the 65-year-old French boss has won the monthly award.

Compatriot Giroud scored a brace against Newcastle at St James’ Park, as well as solitary strikes against Everton, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham.

Arsenal host fifth-placed Liverpool on Saturday. Their remaining games include a home match against Chelsea on 26 April and a trip to fourth-placed Manchester United on 17 May.
