Police Rescues Kidnapped Victim, Arrests Three Suspects

kidnap gangPolicemen attached to the Rivers State Police Command on Sunday arrested three suspected kidnappers in Port Harcourt.

The suspects were arrested after they had abducted one Chimkere Ejim, who is the secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rumuobiakani community, Obio/Akpor local government area of the State, and fled with him in a Nissan Primera.

Following a distress call, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, said the suspected kidnappers were apprehended.

Mohammad, a deputy superintendent of police, pointed out that the kidnappers’ victim, Ejim, was immediately rescued while two of the hoodlums escaped.

“On Sunday (26/04/2015) at about 07.07 hours (7am) along Ekene Street, Port Harcourt, acting on a distress call, policemen, attached to Miniokoro Division, intercepted and demobilised a Nissan Primeria with suspected kidnappers and their victim, one Chimkwere Ejim, of No. 12, Ekene Street, Port Harcourt.

“The said victim was rescued while three of the suspected kidnappers were arrested. Two others escaped. The operational vehicle with number plate DY 520 SMK, used by the kidnappers, was recovered”, the Rivers police spokesman said.

Mohammad, however, stated that efforts had been intensified to apprehend the two fleeing suspects.

According to him, those arrested are currently being interrogated and will soon be prosecuted.
