Boko Haram Kills 25 In Fresh Borno Village Attack

Suspected members of terrorist group Boko Haram, on Sunday invaded Kwajaffa community of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno state, killing 25 residents in the predominantly Christian village.

According to a Vanguard source, the gunmen also set many houses, shops and a local church ablaze.

The terrorists who were more than 20 were fully armed with AK47 rifles, petrol bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). They reportedly stormed the  community at about 10pm on Sunday using two Hilux vehicles and 5 motorcycles.

One of the residents, Ahmad Ali told AFP that, “the residents thought the Islamist insurgents were going to preach and leave but in fact they opened fire on the crowd. They then went on setting fire to homes, burning half of the village before they left”.

Another resident who escaped the attack told Vanguard that “the insurgents who stormed the area started chanting Allahu Akbar in Arabic (God is great) threatening residents that the new government of Gen. Mohammed Buhari will witness massive deadly attacks by insurgents more than what it was witnessed under the Jonathan led PDP administration”.

Security operatives are yet yo confirm the attack, but a Vanguard security source who is not authorized to talk to the press confirmed the attack in Kwajaffa. He said many lives were lost and  property worth millions of naira destroyed.
