The national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, yesterday congratulated the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his election victory, which he described as a boost to opposition politics in Nigeria. Umeh also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat.

He wished Buhari well, adding that his victory was good for democracy.

The APGA national chairman encouraged him to adopt and implement the recommendations of the National Conference for the good of Nigeria.

Also commenting on the outcome of the presidential election, the leader of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Anambra State, Godwin Ezeemo, described Buhari’s victory and Jonathan’s acceptance of his defeat as a resounding progress in the nation’s democracy.

Ezeemo said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and President Jonathan have proved to the world that Nigeria and indeed Africa have great potentials and capacity to manage their affairs.

“The pronouncement and acceptance by the incumbent president was a great show of patriotism on both sides.

“This is an indication that Nigeria has recorded a milestone in its democratic process. It shows how much Nigerians are developing and maturing politically and I am sure that by the next general election, greater improvements would be recorded and people with integrity and purpose of action will man affairs of this great country.”
