Paul Pogba Out for Two Months With Thigh Injury

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out for up to two months with a hamstring injury.

The France international picked up the injury during Wednesday’s Uefa Champions League win at Borussia Dortmund. Subsequent scans on Thursday revealed a torn hamstring, meaning he could return for the last few games of the Serie A outfit’s campaign in early May.

A club statement said: “Paul Pogba this (Thursday) afternoon underwent an MRI scan after coming off midway through the first half of last night’s Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund in Germany. The scan revealed a grade two myotendinous junction tear of the bicepps femoris. He is expected to return to competitive action within the next 50 days.”

The Bianconeri’s final league fixture is scheduled for the weekend of 30 May and should the Italians reach the final of the Champions League, Pogba may be available in time for the 6 June showdown.

Juve are gunning for silverwares on three fronts as they presently lead the Serie A title race by 14 points, through to the last 4 of the Coppa Italia and into the last-8 of the Champions League after thrashing Dortmund 5-1 aggregate.

Pogba is not included in France squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Denmark later this month.

The 22-year-old will therefore miss both legs of Juve’s quarter-final tie.

The Turin outfit are the last team from Italy standing in the Champions League and will know their last-8 fate in Friday’s draw in Nyon.
