JUST IN: Election Results May Be Cancelled In Rivers State

Published

on

Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has said that he believes that today’s presidential elections held in the State were irreparably compromised, and the results must be cancelled.

Inec

According to Sahara Reporters, Amaechi, All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, alleges that interference on the party of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has adversely influenced the result of the contest. Claiming the PDP is working with officials and security agents to rig the contest by withholding result sheets, Amaechi says the results of the election today in Rivers cannot be trusted.

“The police [are] arresting everyone that is arrestable, the police carrying ballot boxes, they are also aiding PDP supporters,” Amaechi said.

He added all the election equipment and materials, especially result sheets, are in PDP agent hands. “I couldn’t vote. In the country, we’re doing very well. In Rivers State, we discovered that all the SPOs (supervising presiding officers) have stolen all the result sheets and disappeared. So we said that there will be no election until we see the result sheets.”

Amaechi claims he was accompanied by members of the press, for purposes of documenting the developments there. “I went with cameramen. I went with Channels, AIT and NTA. They did not see anywhere that we went to that you could identify that there were result sheets.”

Expressing his disappointment with INEC’s management of the electoral process in Rivers State, Amaechi also listed the names of officials he claims are working for the PDP, and how their affiliations ultimately jeopardize the contest. “Don’t forget that the INEC commissioner here was employed by the president,” he said. “So as far as she’s concerned, she says that there was an election and that all the result sheets are in the field.”

The two-term governor stated that voters in Rivers State should be calm, and not resort to violence. His statement comes as reports of violence grow, according to conversations with representatives from the CLEEN Foundation.

At the time of this report, yet another death was reported at a ward in Ogale, Eleme local government area in Rivers State. This joins a string of violent and criminal incidences that have characterized Election Day in the state.

My brothers non of this politicians worth the blood of any Nigerian, their children are abroad schooling, enjoying, in a secured country, but were are we, we are in Nigeria the only country me and you can call our own, let me tell you if anything happens today, they will take the nest available flight and run but me and you will have no place to go, lets pray for peace.

  29. Ubi

    March 29, 2015 at 12:50 pm

My brothers this is not time for us to abuse one another, this is time for us to pray for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria, no mater were you come from (North, South, East and West) let us Pray to God Almighty like in the time of Jonah when the ship was about to sink, let us call Jesus to match into Nigeria, in this Palm Sunday to bring peace into Nigeria

  30. Uch

    March 29, 2015 at 12:58 pm

But come to think about this, Amaechi was suppose to be in his ward voting. The INEC, security officials and elections observers were the only people permitted to move from place to place. No other governor has reported that he went from a polling boot to another. Let other observers report what they saw. Reports from PH yesterday were all that conducts were peaceful.

you fools, even your gej knows he can’t win this election even if you manipulate river’s results ten times, try and check results from other states of the federation or is he going to rule over rivers alone. ha ha ha. federal republic of rivers. let him just handover from OTUOKE he need not coming back to Abuja. bye bye for jati jati.

  33. Don Martin

    March 29, 2015 at 3:20 pm

U see what people don’t know much about election is that there are many things to take into account not just saying I didn’t see result sheet if I may ask is result sheet the most important thing to be asking for when your are not collation officer during the conduct of elections such as this? Instead of taken into account the number of registered voters for ur PU, nos of accredited voters then after voting the no. of votes cast cos with this u would knw if any think went wrong. And again even before entering any result into the result sheets the votes must have been sorted out and counted so I don’t see any reason to start a fight here.

well, I served as an inec ad hoc staff in 2011 general lections and I still remembered we were told to guide d result sheet with our lives and never to bring it out until point of recording d result in which u then show it everyone. infact, it was brought to us just after accreditation. i therefore believe d inec staff are not under any obligations to show him. anyone can hijack it. and dis is not enough to cancel an election until it is otherwise proven. this is my humble opinion.

    March 29, 2015 at 8:57 pm

Let no one abuse Amaechi, he is actively pushing the motion of a No-rigging election in a free and fair environment.
If GEJ wins, let it be glaring to silence the opposition party. If you are in his shoe, you could do worse.
Our problem in this country is a foolish act of Voting because someone is from our tribe. It will kill us more if we think that way.

How do I explain the action of the Governor of River State. Please explain to me, should the inec show every voter their sensitive materials or him alone because he the Governor or because he Ameachi, did he also ask to see ballot papers to see what colour they were. I don’t like this know it all, it makes me sick. By the way he is an interested party in the election the campaign manager of a party no the agent of the party for this very election why was he going from polling stations. Perhaps he would have made a state broadcast asking all of us to to our polling units to request for result sheets. Who knows what the real agenda was, may God help us. Please don’t make us suspect the air we breath. Rivers people let’s be wise. The governors family is not in his village.

North Is The Worst Place To Live In Nigeria -Sultan of Sokoto

Published

on

The Sultan of Sokoto,Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on Thursday lamented the high rate of insecurity in the North, saying it was the worst place in the country to live.

Sultan of Sokoto North

The Sultan, who stated this at the fourth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council in Abuja, said bandits were fast overrunning the North as residents slept with their eyes open.

While describing the North as the worst place to live, he said that bandits had become daring.

He said they moved from house to house, village to village, market to market, with AK-47 rifles openly, purchasing foodstuffs and other items and even collecting change without any challenge from the security agencies.

The foremost traditional ruler stated that the security system in the North had completely collapsed.

He said, “Security situation in Northern Nigeria has assumed a worrisome situation. Few weeks ago, over 76 persons were killed in a community in Sokoto in a day. I was there with the governor to commiserate with the affected community.

“Unfortunately, you don’t hear these stories in the media because it’s in the North. We have accepted the fact that the North does not have strong media to report the atrocities of these bandits.

“People think North is safe but that assumption is not true. In fact, it’s the worst place to be in this country because bandits go around in the villages, households and markets with their AK 47 and nobody is challenging them.

“They stop at the market, buy things, pay and collect change, with their weapons openly displayed. These are facts, I know because I am at the centre of it.

“I am not only a traditional ruler, I am also a religious leader. So, I am in a better place to tell the story. I can speak for the North in this regard because I am fully aware of the security challenges there. We have to sincerely and seriously find solutions to the problem, otherwise, we will find ourselves soon, in a situation where we would lose sleep because of insecurity.
