Enyimba to Play Smouha in Champions League 1st RND

Enyimba International FC are through to the first round of the Caf Champions League after a 1-0 win over Buffles du Bourgou in Benin Republic.

Andrew Abalogu’s match-winner saw the Peoples Elephants claim a 4-0 aggregate victory against the Beninese champions in Parakou on Sunday.

The two-time champions will now face Egyptian side Smouha in the first round. Coach Khadiri Ikhana side will be at home in the first round first leg slated for the weekend of March 13, with the returned leg scheduled for three weeks later.

Debutantes Smouha progressed into the Champions League 1/16 round following a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Libya’s Ahly Tripoli in Alexandria. Both sides were tied 1-1 after 180 minutes, but the last season’s runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League scraped a shootout victory.
