Costa to Have Scans Ahead of Spain Duty

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will undergo scans in London on Monday to assess a hamstring injury he sustained during Sunday’s 3-2 win at Hull City.

Costa was replaced by Loic Remy at the KC Stadium in the 75th minute when he limped off with the problem.

The 26-year-old has been named in Spain squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine and friendly away to the Netherlands.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) said in a statement: “Costa will undergo tests on Monday in London and the results will be available to Spain’s medical staff for their evaluation.”

The win over Hull restored Chelsea’s 6 points advantage over second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand. The Blues are out of action until 4 April in a home game against Stoke City.

Reigning European champions Spain hosts Ukraine on 27 March before traveling to Holland for a friendly four days later.

Costa was sidelined earlier in the season with a hamstring injury as well as a viral infection.
