Bayern 7-0 Shakhtar (7-0 agg): Quickest UCL Red As Bavarians Run Riot

Bayern Munich whitewashed ten-man Shakhtar Dontesk with seven un-replied goals to advance into their fourth successive Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Kucher received a straight red for hacking down Mario Gotze in the third minute of play- the fastest red card in the history of Europe’s elite club competition.

The previous fastest red card was 5min 52secs and was held by Werder Bremen’s Valérien Ismael against Inter Milan in September 2004.

Thomas Muller made no mistake with the ensuing penalty to open score for the Bavarian hosts. Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery’s goals either side of half-time took scores to 3-0.

Muller stroked into an empty net after a Ribery pull-back and Holdger Badstuber’s made scores 4-0 with his first goal of the season.

Robert Lewandowski raced through on goal to slip in before Gotze wrapped up the joint biggest Champions League win with a low shot.

The Bundensluga champions, through to their eighth quarter-final in 11 season, had not lost at home since last year’s 4-0 thrashing by Real Madrid in the semi-final.
