Fashola Slams Agbaje, Says He Can’t Cancel Lekki-Epe Toll Gate

Babatunde FasholaGovernor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Friday faulted the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, for saying that if he wins the forthcoming election and assumes office, he would cancel both the toll collection plaza mounted on the Lekki-Epe expressway and the toll gate on the Lekki link bridge in Ikoyi.

The PDP flag bearer had made known his intention to abolish the toll gates during his on-going campaign in Lagos.

But delivering a keynote address at the Business Roundtable of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce at Ikoyi, Lagos, Fashola, under whose tenure the projects were carried out, said when he heard Agbaje made the statement, it worried him and raised serious doubts about his (Agbaje’s) understanding of the venture.

“When the idea started, when we were negotiating the toll gate concession, the people we eventually concessioned it to recalled the Lagos metroline project and demanded that a law be passed to assure them that no one will cancel the project. And we did”, Fashola said, adding that “Lagosians must be careful. The day a government begins to cancel contracts, it affects the economy”.

  1. Is Fashola the APC governorship candidate in Lagos state? Why is he so frightened of Jimi Agbaje? Except Ambode, their dour candidate is really Tinubu’s stooge, he should get up and be a man of his own. Apparently he is a puppet unfit for the job of governing Lagos.
