Liverpool Midfielder, Lallana Out For A Month With Injury

Liverpool’s Adam Lallana faces a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

The £25m signing from Southampton pulled up after 55 minutes of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City at Anfield on New Year’s Day.

Manager Brendan Rodgers said he had a “a tweak in his thigh”- a condition which, according to Press Association Sport will rule the England international out for four weeks.

The midfielder missed out on selection as the Reds edge AFC Wimbledon 2-1 to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday and will not be available for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland as well as both legs of the Capital One Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea.

Rodgers told reporters after their victory over Wimbledon that Lallana could return with the ‘Reds’ in “a bit shorter” time.

He added: “More or less [a month out], it might be a bit shorter than that. It’s a slight strain that he has. There’s no real timeline on it yet, but hopefully it won’t be as long as that.”

The 26-year-old has scored four goals in 14 league matches this season, including a brace in the 4-1 win over Swansea last Monday.
