Belgium & Wolfsburg’s Malanda Killed in Car Crash- Report

Wolfsburg’s Junior Malanda has reportedly died in a car crash at the age of 20.

Malanda has represented Belgium at every youth level and rejoined Wolfburg in time for the start of the current Bundesliga season last summer following a season-long loan spell at Belgian club Zulte-Waregem in the 2013-14 campaign.

German news outlet Bild are reporting that Malanda was sat in the back seat of an SUV, which police say was travelling at high speed when it crashed at 3:35 p.m. CET on Saturday.

The car is said to have somersaulted over the culvert and crashed into a tree before settling up on its roof.

According to reports, Malanda died at the scene while two other passengers in the car were seriously injured.

The midfielder has featured ten times for Wolfsburg this season- four of them among starting lineups- and was due to fly to South Africa on Saturday night to link up with the rest of the German club’s squad on its winter tour.
