Amosun Is A Sectional Governor – Osoba • Urges Ijebus To Vote Him Out

Published

Olusegun OsobaA former Governor of Ogun State and a national leader of the resuscitated Social Democratic Party, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has described the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, as a sectional governor not deserving of a second term in office.

Gov. Amosun is seeking re-election on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking on Tuesday in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state, at a meeting with a cross-section of traditional chiefs, community and party supporters, Osoba decried the absence of substantial government presence in the area.

He added that Gov. Amosun had concentrated his developmental projects in Abeokuta, the state capital, and its environs to the detriment of other towns in the state.

He said, “The governor (Amosun) is the governor of Abeokuta. That is where most of the projects are situated, while other areas in the state are left out”.

The former governor, whose disagreement with Amosun forced him to dump the APC along with his supporters for SDP, accused the governor of abandoning the Ago-Iwoye bridge, which was initiated by his (Osoba) administration and concentrated on building bridges at Sapon, Itoku and Iyana Mortuary, all in the state capital.

Osoba inaugurated some projects executed by the Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Kaka.

These include a staff room at Ago Iwoye Secondary School and a hall at Itamerin Comprehensive High School.

The ex-governor also berated Mr. Amosun for the shabby manner he allegedly treated his deputy, Mr. Segun Adesegun.

He noted that this was not only a slap on the deputy governor, but a slap to the people of Ijebuland, which he said, Adesegun represents.

He said, “We gave Adesegun as Amosun’s deputy because of his experience as commissioner for works under my administration.

“We had expected that the governor would tap from Adesegun’s wealth of experience in governance but the governor chose otherwise and started constructing bridges where there is no water.

“Amosun really dealt with Adesegun; he maltreated him. Ijebu people should not see the insult meted out to Adesegun as that of Adesegun alone. They should see it as a collective insult.

“Therefore, it is time for Ijebu people to fight back with their votes. I’m begging you to stop the maltreatment of the Ijebus with your votes.

“It is time to defend yourselves. This is not 1999 election, when you voted for your kinsman, (Jubril) Martins Kuye‎, against me. You must show Amosun with your votes come February 28, 2015; all of you must come out en-masse and pay Amosun back”.

Mr. Osoba also accused the ruling APC in the state of planning to mop up Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the elections, urging the voters to beware and resist any form of inducement.

The projects initiator, Mr. Kaka, who named one of the projects after the SDP leader, said the gesture was in recognition of Mr. Osoba’s contributions to the state.

Sen. Kaka, who was one of Osoba’s loyalists, who followed him to the SDP and is currently seeking re-election to the Senate on the platform of the party, appealed to the people to vote in SDP in the February general elections, stressing that it remained the only progressive party in the country.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
