2015: Attack Dog Era Is Over –Buhari Campaign To Fani-Kayode

BuhariThe All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization said on Friday that it would not respond to any offensive comment by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign spokesperson, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.

“The APC will stay on issues that will improve on the daily livelihood of Nigerians such as security, jobs creation and manpower development”, a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign, Malam Garba Shehu said.

The APC presidential campaign team was reacting to a comment attributed to Mr. Fani-Kayode that he would expose the dangers in electing Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as the President of Nigeria come February 14, 2015.

“It is our full intention to expose General Muhammadu Buhari for what he really is, what he stands for and the great danger that his candidacy portends for the unity of the Nigerian state and the peace and well-being of the Nigerian people”, Fani-Kayode said.

But Mr. Shehu, in his reaction to the statement, said: “The era of attack dog is over. Nigerians are not going to vote for the party which has the most offensive tongue”.

He added “That Fani-Kayode started off the PDP presidential campaign, resorting to abuse of the person of Buhari and demonization of the opposition party even after the charge to it by President Jonathan, shows how rudderless the PDP ship is, and it also shows that the PDP presidential campaign is not only short of ideas but has nothing worthwhile to communicate Nigerians.

“The main focus of the APC presidential campaign remains how APC government led by General Muhammadu Buhari will salvage the country from the doldrums that the incumbent administration has put it.

“These are the issues that APC presidential campaigns will stay on. This is what Nigerians expect of us as a campaign. We will not join issues with anybody who rants around the streets”, the statement said.

The APC presidential campaign team said it was not surprised that members of the Jonathan campaign have resorted to personal attacks on the former head of state and focusing on trivial issues because the government has thoroughly run out of ideas to lead Nigeria to the promised destination.
