Okorocha Cautions APC Members In Imo Against Discouraging Defectors From Joining Party

Rochas OkorochaGovernor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, cautioned leaders and officials of All Progressives Congress, APC, at the ward and local council levels in the state, against placing obstacles in the way of members of other political parties in the state, especially Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members, who are desirous of defecting to APC.

Okorocha’s position, which was contained in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Samuel Onwuemeodo, followed insinuations that APC officials were making it difficult for aggrieved PDP loyalists to join APC.

He said: “Any APC leader or official, discouraging anybody or group from coming to join APC at any level in the state will be accused of anti-party activity.

“APC members must show in words and in action that the party is a new party; for the new Nigeria that must not stick to the old ways of doing things”.

While expressing regret for whatever inconvenience anybody might have experienced in their attempt to join APC in the past, Okorocha appealed to those who encountered such problems to go to the state party secretariat in Owerri and register to become members.
