Senate President, David Mark has identified the solution to Nigeria’s security, political and socio-economic challenges.

Mark said “only if we turn to Him (God) to salvage the myriads of crisis facing the nation,” will God heal our land.

“What the country is passing through at the moment is a test of our faith. We must be steadfast in our prayers that God will save Nigeria,” the Senate president told members of the Youth Prayer Network of Nigeria (YPNN) during the flag-off of national prayers for the nation, in his Apo, Abuja official residence.

“What we need now as a nation is sincerity of purpose; sincerity on the part of everybody: the government and the people. With prayers, our country will see the end of this insurgency and God will totally heal our land.”

The Senate President also charged youths across the country to embrace the YPNN as the agents needed for positive change towards building a greater Nigeria.

Coordinator of the YPNN, Rev. Father Charles Ndubuisi, who spoke earlier, said youths across the nation have come together to pray for an end to the lingering security crisis and to seek change of attitude among the younger generation.

“We have come together to raise our voices to God. The future belongs to young people and as youths by implication, we are praying for ourselves too,” he said.

  1. Hun, people are expecting the Almighty God to send His angels to Nigeria to end corruption, bad governance, lack of electricity 24/7, etc. If God would come down with His angels to put things right whenever there are problems in a country, He would have made humans robots. Simply put, he wouldn’t have given us brains! He gave us brains so that we can reason, take actions, solve our problems but ask for His guidance and protection when needed. I believe that “Heaven help those who help themselves”. The disease ruining our country for years now is corruption! We need a government that can enforce the rule of law in Nigeria. It breaks my heart when I hear people say it’s only God who can solve the problems of Nigeria. Church leaders, people who are well placed to change things, musicians and politicians all looking to heavens for solutions to the problems of Nigeria! No wonder Carl Max once said “religion is the opium of the society”. Nigerians should take the necessary actions to solve their problems and pray for the guidance of the Almighty God.
