I Don’t Hate Obasanjo – Kashamu

Buruji-KashamuThe Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has identified clash of interests as the root cause of his problems with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Kashamu said while some members of the PDP were fighting for the interest of the South-West in the party, Mr. Obasanjo was busy seeking personal political fulfilment.

The PDP chieftain, who stated this in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, said his camp has been disagreeing with the former Nigerian leader because he allegedly imposes his will on other people.

He said, “PDP has been liberated. When Baba Obasanjo was controlling the whole of South-West (PDP); that was what happened (marginalisation) and that is why we have been fighting since those days.

“Not that I hate Baba Obasanjo; it is not that I don’t have respect for elders; but we are tired of people who will be saying something today and be saying another thing tomorrow. We are tired of imposition. We are tired of selfish interests.

“The people who are supposed to join their hands together and fight for the future of our children; are not doing that. They are doing whatever negotiations they want to do for their selfish interests. That is what has dragged us behind the scene”.

Kashamu said unlike what obtained during Chief Obasanjo’s leadership of the PDP, membes of the party could now function independently without interference from higher authorities.
