Balotelli Will Regret Wasted Opportunities, Says Trapattoni

Former Italy coach, Giovanni Trapattoni thinks Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli will look back on his career with regret over “wasted opportunities” following retirement.

The £16m summer signing from AC Milan has struggled to make an impact at the Merseyside club and has been on the sidelines for about a month with a groin injury.

Off the pitch, Balotelli is an instant hit as he continues getting into controversies; most recently he has been charged by the Football Association for an alleged anti-Semitic Super Mario post on Instagram.

“I do not know how Balotelli’s career will pan out in the future,” the former Juventus, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich coach told La Nazione.

“But I know that when he hangs up his boots he will realize the many opportunities he has wasted.”

Balotelli, 24, has returned to training and manager Brendan Rodgers has said he will be assessed in the next 48 hours to determine if he is in contention against Manchester United on Sunday.
