Army Kills 75 Boko Haram Members In Borno

More than seventy five Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by Nigerian troops of the 7 Division, Dogon wire along Maiduguri Damboa road in Borno State, security sources and Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) staff confirmed to newsmen.

The attack took place in Bulaburin village on Wednesday, while the military was giving security cover to the PHCN staff, who were repairing destroyed transmission cables at Damboa.

“We were on the electric tower on surveillance of any perceived threat, while the staff of the TCN were repairing the destroyed cables, when we sighted the insurgents coming in groups and we immediately opened fire on them,” a military source told Vanguard.

“We kept on firing but they continued moving towards our position, then our commander ordered the armored tanker to start firing. They still continued coming unabated until the commander ordered the artillery to shell them, that was when we cleared them,” the source said.

A PHCN staff, who was on the team that went for the repairs, told SaharaReporters that the military killed up to 75 militants during the encounter.

“I am happy today because it would have been a black day for us at Bulaburin. We went to repair Maiduguri electrical infrastructure which had been shut down by militants since July as we were working we started hearing sporadic gun shots, so the troops fought back. However, the intense fight affected our vehicles; we drove to Maiduguri on flat tyres” he said.
