The confrontation between members of the All Progressives Congress in the Ekiti State House of Assembly and Governor Ayodele Fayose took a turn for the worse on Monday as seven members of assembly, backed by battle-ready policemen, impeached the speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin.

Omirin is of the APC and has recently been at loggerheads with Gov. Fayose, a development that led to the state government sealing off a petrol filling station allegedly belonging to the speaker on grounds that it violated environmental laws.

According to reports, the seven PDP lawmakers were led into the state assembly complex by Mobile Police Commander, Selenkere Michael, to carry out the illegal act.

The police allegedly prevented 19 other members of the assembly, including the substantive speaker, Hon. Omirin, from gaining entry to the assembly complex as the ‘impeachment’ proceedings was going on.

One Olugbemi, was purportedly “elected” by the seven-man house as the new speaker.

I can not but submit that this is an invitation to anarchy for seven law makers to impeach the speaker with nineteen others prevented from gaining access into the chamber.my question for the seven law makers is that; is that what the constriction said?were they guided by the constitution which they sworn an oath to protect and defend?my candid advise is that they should not sleep with their two eyes closed, because what they have sowed will definitely come back home to ROOST.
