PDP Office, Bank Attacked By Suspected Boko Haram Gunmen In Gombe

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen have attacked a bank and a political party’s office on Tuesday in Nafada, Gombe State, according to witnesses. Nafada is a town near Gombe’s border with Yobe State.

“They came in large numbers in vans and on motorcycles, shouting Allahu Akbar (God is greater),” Vanguard quoted a resident identified as Abubakar Galda as saying.

According to him, the military and police guarding a checkpoint on the main road were overpowered before they took the attack into the town.

He added that the gunmen “blew up a police station with rocket propelled grenades.”

Corroborating Galda’s report, another resident, Awwalu Ibrahim said the terrorists after entering the town razed the local headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Vanguard reports that the suspected militants also robbed a bank, citing multiple sources.

Although a video by the Boko Haram sect has rubbished claims of a ceasefire deal with the Federal Government, the government has insisted the truce talks were still on course. Bloodshed has continued unabated in Nigeria’s north since the October 17 ceasefire announcement by the government.
