Ogun PDP Denies Dissolution Of Exco

PDPThe Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described as false, reports that the State Executive Committee of the party has been dissolved by the national leadership.

The party was reacting to media reports that the state exco was dissolved to accommodate defectors from the Labour Party, led by former Governor Gbenga Daniel.

But the state Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Waliu Oladipupo, in a statement on Sunday in Abeokuta, said the state executive of the party, led by Mr. Adebayo Dayo, was still intact.

He said, “The Adebayo Dayo-led state executive is intact. They (members) were not just elected but validated by several judicial interventions and pronouncements from the High Court to the Appeal Court.

“The executives, from the ward to local government and state levels were not just elected at validly conducted congresses, they were refined through the crucible of the party constitution and the laws of the land and endorsed by the electoral umpire – the Independent National Electoral Commission”.

Mr. Oladipupo warned that any attempt to tinker with the party structure in the state would not just be an invitation to avoidable lawlessness but also illegal and a direct affront on the judiciary.

The Ogun PDP spokesman noted that the rumour of the dissolution of the state exco was being fuelled by those who abandoned the party when it faced challenges some years back.
