Nigeria League Season Now Ends Nov 16

The final day of the 2013/14 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season has been adjusted by a week, according to the League Management Company (LMC).

The LMC, on Thursday, tweeted that the final day of the Glo Premier League “is now Sunday, November 16th, 2014.”

The league body added: “This adjustment is to allow for whatever petition may arise from the clubs. However, all petitions close tomorrow (Friday, November 7th, 2014).”

The outgoing season was initially scheduled to end on Sunday, November 9.

Among petitions to be thrashed includes a controversial walkover by Nasarawa United over Giwa FC last week.

The LMC had, a week ago, notified Nasarawa they were to gain 3 points, 3 goals, after their opponent Giwa went AWOL for a rescheduled Match Day 35 fixture; only to backtrack on that decision and order for a replay today, which the Lafia club has said it will not honour.

Warri Wolves, who are in a close race with Giwa and Nasarawa for a continental ticket, have threatened to boycott their Match Day 38 game against Nasarawa in Lafia should the ‘Solid Miners’ fail to play the controversial match against Giwa in Abuja.
