Keshi- “High Spirit” in Super Eagles Camp

Stephen Keshi has said the spirit in Nigeria’s camp is high ahead of Wednesday’s must-win 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.

The Super Eagles require maximum points against already qualified South Africa to guarantee a place in Equatorial Guinea regardless of the outcome in the other Group A game between Sudan and Congo.

“The spirit in camp is high,” said the 52-year-old boss. “I think it’s the spirit that we had in Congo.

“We need lady luck to be on our side and complete the whole situation. I know the boys are ready to go. They know what is at stake.”

He also confirmed the absence of Reading FC midfielder Hope Akpan, who has since returned to England to continue treatment on his injured shoulder with his club.

Keshi added: “We will miss him, but I think we have other players that can do the job but I would have loved him to be here. But this is football and it happens.”
