Glo Premier League: Giwa Edge Sharks 2-1 in a Rescheduled Match

Giwa FC defeated Sharks FC 2-1 on Wednesday in a rescheduled Match Day 32 fixture in Abuja.

The ‘Jos Elephants’ now have 56 points from a possible 108, as the League Management Company (LMC) has reportedly rescheduled another Match Day 35 fixture against Nasarawa United for Thursday (tomorrow) in Abuja.

This would mark the third time the clash involving hosts Giwa and Nasarawa will be re-shifted, with the league body now understood to have reneged on its decision to award 3 point, 3 goals to the visiting ‘Solid Miners’ on Thursday, October 30.

The match was initially rescheduled for Wednesday, 29 October, but the LMC shifted it to the day after because Giwa failed to arrive at the Fifa Goal Project venue, citing they had thought a Jos court injunction which annulled the September 30 NFF elections- as at that time- had prevented league matches from taking place.

“We are going to replay our game against Nasarawa United on Thursday,” Giwa head of marketing who doubles as assistant coach, Sammy Adesoji, is quoted as saying on AfricanFootball.com. “We have a letter to that effect from LMC.”

Meanwhile, a brace by Shuaibu Ibrahim sealed a 2-1 win over Sharks on Wednesday. The Port-Harcourt side’s only goal was scored by Fortune Omoniwari.

Giwa’s Ibrahim has now scored 13 goals in the soon-to-be-concluded 2013-14 Glo Premier League season.
