Enyimba defeated champions Kano Pillars on the final match day of the 2013-14 Glo Premier League season to seal their fate for next season’s Caf Champions League competition.
The six-time champions downed Pillars 3-1 in Aba to finish second in the league table with 64 points from 38 matches. They join the ‘Sai Masu Gida’ for the 2014-15 Champions League season- starting with the preliminary rounds- as the two representatives from Nigeria.
Enyimba hitman Mfon Udoh grabbed a brace on Sunday to take his tally to a record-breaking 23 goals; the highest tally by a single player in the 2013-14 season and the most goal by a player since Jude Aneke scored 20 in the 2010-11 season for Kaduna United.
Gambo Muhammed grabbed the visitors’ only goal before substitute Chimezie Amanfor restored the ‘Peoples Elephants’ two goals advantage.
Enyimba ended the contest with ten men after Okonkwo Chinonso was sent off in the 73rd minute for a second bookable offense.
