A presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) on Wednesday warned that if the ruling Peoples Democratic Party is not stopped in 2015, the party would destroy the country.
Buhari gave this warning while addressing party delegates in Calabar, Cross River State, ahead of the December 10 presidential primaries of the APC.
According to the former head of state, the country has lost so much in the last 15 years that the PDP had been in power.
He said, “We have lost so much. What has become of the Nigeria Airways, our shipping lines, railways among others. Infrastructure is going down and also the rising level of insecurity.
“The Peoples Democratic Party has failed badly in their 15 years of rule so far. Everything is going down inpsite of all the money. What are they doing with the money?
“We must stop PDP from destroying this country. If we don’t get rid of the PDP, PDP will get rid of Nigerians. We are fed up. Whatever your sentiments, let us work together and rebuild this country”.
He urged the people to get their permanent voter cards to enable them vote next year.
“Make sure you get the PVC, because it is only with it that you can vote out the PDP”, he said.
While soliciting the support of the delegates, Mr. Buhari promised to do his best if he is elected as the next President in 2015.
The aspirant also lamented the menace of Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the country, adding that the activities of the sect has nothing to do with religion.
In his comment, the state chairman of APC, Pastor Usani Usani, described Buhari as humble, disciplined and intelligent.
Usani said Buhari’s coming to the state proved that he has not taken the state for granted given that he is not the only one seeking to be president.
