APC, Other Parties Must Not Be Allowed To Win Any Election In Rivers – Ex-Gov, Omehia

Celestine OmehiaFormer Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, has said the Peoples Democratic Party must ensure victory in all elections in the state come 2015 because the state’s future depends on it.

Omehia said this in a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

The ex-governor noted that by virtue of its central position in Nigeria’s political and economic sphere, all members of the PDP in Rivers State must shun divisive tendencies and rally round those who emerge as the party’s flag bearers at all levels.

According to him, the confidence the people of the state have in the party was responsible for the high number of aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket for elective offices in the state.

He also said, “I humbly urge all of us to put hands together to return our performing President, brother, friend and in-law Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.

“In the same token, we must make sure our great party (PDP) wins all the elections in our state at all levels. We can do this if we are united and love one another.

“Yes, many of our people have indicated interest to run for different political positions because we are a people with a common goal and destiny. But our interest for our party and the state must overrun our personal interests”.

The former governor further enjoined members of the party not to allow the outcome of the forthcoming primary election deter them from rallying support for the party.

He stressed that the growth and development of the state should be paramount at all times.

“We must not let the opposition win any election at any level in our state. We must not let the opposition enslave the state for another four years”, he said.
