The Israeli died from injuries suffered when a Palestinian drove a van into pedestrians at an eastern Jerusalem rail station on Wednesday. The first clashes between Palestinians and police erupted when the driver was shot dead by police. The driver was identified by Israeli authorities as a member of Hamas, which claimed responsibility for the attack.

The clashes yesterday occurred n the Shuafat Palestinian refugee camp in East Jerusalem, where the van driver lived, and in other neighborhoods.

Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets, and stun grenades when Palestinians hurled rocks, set off firecrackers and set tires aflame.

The van crash followed unrest at Temple Mount, or Haram al-Sharif, where activist Rabbi Yehuda Glick was shot and gravely wounded last week after agitating for more Jewish rights at the site, where Jews are allowed to gather but not pray. The attacker in that case was also shot dead by cops.
