Osibajo, Borofice, Edun Lined Up As Buhari’s Running Mate

Although the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not agreed to a consensus candidate, the associates of party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are already lining up three possible running mates for Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

The development came to light on Wednesday when many of Tinubu’s political associates, including his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu got prominent presence at Buhari’s public declaration for the presidency in Abuja, showing synergy between the camps of Buhari and Tinubu.

The candidates being lined up, according to Vanguard, are Prof. Yemi Osibajo, a former commissioner in Lagos State, Senator Ajayi Borofice presently representing Ondo North in the Senate and Mr. Wale Edun, a former commissioner in Lagos State.

Vanguard also reports that the Buhari camp was considering the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and another former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, but it has become very unlikely, with the synergy between the two camps, with Tinubu and Fayemi yet to settle their political differences.

The decision of the Tinubu camp to propose Borofice, Osibajo or Edun as Buhari’s running mate was said to be due to the party’s rejection of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which many said would have been a Buhari- Tinubu ticket.
