Obiano’s Wife Didn’t Endorse Me As APGA Candidate For House Of Reps, Says Anambra Speaker

Chinwe Clare Nwaebili- SpeakerSpeaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Clare Chinwe Nwaebili, has said she will not bow to the pressure to quit politics until she achieves her political dreams.

Affirming speculations that she would vie for the Ogbaru constituency’s House of Representatives seat in next year’s election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the speaker also denied rumours making the rounds that Governor Willie Obiano bribed the state lawmakers with N400 million when he took them to the United States.

She also denied the allegation that the governor also gave the Assembly N300 million to pass the supplementary budget he presented to it.

The speaker described the allegations as the handiwork of the governor’s detractors.

Princess Nwaebili addressed reporters yesterday in Awka, the state capital, after the Assembly’s plenary.

She said: “Our visit to Washington D.C in U.S.A was on a leadership course. Governor Obiano never visited the place throughout our sojourn, not to talk of giving any member of the Assembly any money. All these issues are being raised by uninformed persons”.

Mrs Nwaebili also denied the rumour that the state governor’s wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, endorsed her as APGA candidate for the 2015 House of Representatives seat for Ogbaru.

The speaker described the purported endorsement as a misinformation.

She said: “I do not know what some people tend to achieve by all these lies. Mrs. Obiano did not say anything like that. What the governor’s wife did was heaving praises on me during her visit. She said I had worked closely with her and that I deserved a compensation.

“I am just starting my political career. The present House of Assembly has worked closely with the state government. That is why we have this cordial relationship in the state.

“Name-calling cannot set me back in politics. I am aspiring to go higher; that is to the House of Representatives in the next dispensation. My people have seen that the cap fits me.

“I do not like politics of pulling people down, which has been in vogue in Anambra State. The game should not be a do-or-die affair. It should be a game of brothers and sisters. I am not eyeing anybody’s seat but I want to be promoted to the next level”.

In his letter, Senator Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.

Senator Abbo who is a first-term lawmaker was elected in 2019 to the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
