Nembe Relegation Confirmed after LMC Sanctions, Bayelsa Fined N1m

Glo Premier League clubs Bayelsa United and Nembe City have both been punished by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Organising and Disciplinary (O&D) committee for various misconducts.

Nembe City’s relegation fate is sealed after the LMC ruling which had six points deducted from their already accrued total of 28, so far in the 2013-14 season- as well as forfeiting three points from abandoned games against Lobi Stars and Gombe United.

NFF O & D overruled LMC on match Day 27 clash between Nembe and Lobi by awarding three points and three goals to the Markurdi-based visitors.

The league body had ruled that the abandoned match resume with a penalty kick on the 88th minute but the federation says Nembe will lose 3 points and 3 goals.

The committee meanwhile upheld LMC ruling, which awarded 3 goals and 3 points to Gombe United in another (Match Day 31) abandoned match at Nembe City, who held up play after a penalty was awarded to Gombe in the closing minutes.

The above mentioned sanctions means bottom-placed Nembe City’s relegation is done and dusted as they have henceforth lost six points from accrued points with four rounds of matches left.

Bayelsa United are fined N1m for fielding an ineligible player, Peter Egharevba, against Nembe City. Egharevba scored a hat-trick for the ‘Restoration Boys’ in a Match Day 26 3-1 win.

The LMC “however ruled that the result of the Match Day 26 fixture still stands and that Egharevba should return to Nembe City.”

Also two Crown FC players, Benson Omodo and Segun Ayo, will serve a one-year ban after the O & D upheld an LMC’s decision meted out on the duo for assaulting a Match Official during a Match Day 30 encounter against Enyimba at the Adamasingba Stadium.
