Mourinho: I Rejected PSG ‘s Offers Twice

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he twice rejected approaches from Paris St-Germain to become the French Ligue 1 club’s coach.

The 51-year-old tactician, who has won league titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, returned for a second spell with Chelsea in June last year.

In an interview with French television programme Telefoot to be aired on Sunday, the Portuguese boss revealed PSG’s Qatari owners- headed by Nasser Al-Khelaifi- wanted him to work with sporting director Leonardo when they took over the club in 2011.

“I think I can say this, I was first choice to come to Paris with Leonardo,” he said. “But I refused the offer twice.”

Mourinho won the La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup once each, in three years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He ended last season without a trophy at Chelsea, with whom he previously won two Premier League titles and an FA Cup before leaving in 2007. The ‘Blues’ are favourites to reclaim the English league title for the first time since 2010 after grabbing 19 points from a possible 21 to sit atop the standings.

Mourinho reiterates he will see out his four-year deal unless, “otherwise”; he got booted out of the London.

“To sign for PSG? If Chelsea turn me down, Yes. But otherwise, I’m ever-present (at Stamford Bridge),” he added. “I don’t want to leave. Paris is not an option and I won’t get fired because the results are good.”
