Vidal Hit Brace as Juventus Maintain Perfect Start

Arturo Vidal scored twice as Juventus maintained their 100 per cent start to the Italian Serie A season with a 3-0 win over Cesena on Wednesday.

The Chilean midfielder placed the ‘Bianconeri’ ahead from the penalty spot after Roberto Pereyra’s shot struck Emmanuel Cascione’s arm.

Vidal doubled the champions’ lead from open play after the break, delivering an ambitious strike which flew past goalkeeper Nicola.

Stephan Lichsteeiner completed scoring late on with a fine angled finish from Simone Padoin’s assist.

The wins made it 12 points from four games for Massimiliano Allegri’s men.

Inter Milan moved up to third following a 2-0 win over Atalanta at the Estadio Giuseppe Meaza. Inter dominated the contest from the onset only for Rodrigo Palacio to miss a penalty midway through the first-half. Pablo Osvaldo gave the hosts the lead before the interval.

Hernanes sealed three points with a superb free-kick in the closing stages.

Miralem Pjanic’s late free-kick ensured Roma maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 win at Parma.

Roma’s Adam Ljajic broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, but the hosts drew level through Pablo De Ceglie’s header.

With just two minutes left to the dead, Pjanic bended home a delightful free-kick to help Roma finish with a flourish.

Palermo snatched a 3-3 draw against Rafael Benitez’s Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Duvan Zapata gave Napoli a flying start, but they were pegged back by goals from Andrea Belotti and Franco Vazquez. Jose Callejon gave the home side the lead again on the stroke of half-time, but Belotti equalised after an hour to prompt whistles from the home fans as their patience in Benitez runs thin.

Sampdoria extended their unbeaten run to four games with a 2-1 win over Chievo in Genoa.

Fiorentina settled for a goalless draw against Sassuolo in Florence while Hellas Verona came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Genoa.

Torino came from behind to beat Cagliari 2-1.
