Northern Group To Kwankwaso: Stop Insulting Jonathan

GEJ-KwankwasoThe Northern Ulama Forum for Peace and Development has warned Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State, to desist from insulting the person or office of the President of the country, saying such an act was unbecoming of a public office holder.

President of the Forum, Ustaz Sabiu, who sounded the warning on behalf of the group, said it had become the pastime of Gov. Kwankwaso to insult President Goodluck Jonathan and render personal abuses on him.

According to Sabiu, insulting the president, calling him all manner of names with lack of decency and decorum at a public function is not expected of a high profile public servant as Governor Kwankwaso.

The forum was reacting to a statement credited to the Kwankwaso in his speech during the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors Forum Public Lecture Series in Owerri, Imo State, Tuesday, in which the governor was reported to have cast aspersions on the person and office of the president in an unguided manner.

Kwankwaso was quoted to have said among other things: “…I find it very insulting to see those who have failed in their primary assignments insulting us on NTA and other televisions, wearing uniform, comparing themselves, pretending to be first class leaders like Barack Obama, like Mandela and other leaders who have protected their people. Many of us are beginning to wonder whether we have Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces or Commander-in-Chief of NTA”.

Ustaz Sabiu said:  “The attention of the Northern Ulama Forum for Peace and Development has been drawn to yet another insult on the person and office of President Goodluck Jonathan by the governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
