Jonathan Knows Boko Haram’s Financier In The CBN – Soyinka

Jonathan knows about Boko Haram financier in CBN – Soyinka

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka yesterday revealed that information about a suspected financier of terror group Boko Haram within the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was passed to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Soyinka warned Nigerians not to dismiss the claims of Australian negotiator Stephen Davis, on those allegedly sponsoring Boko Haram, as he said he worked “in the background” with him, during the Niger Delta militancy crisis.

In a statement by Soyinka titled, The wages of impunity, he said he was appalled by government’s treatment of people linked with the Islamist group with kid gloves.

“Finally, Stephen Davis also mentioned a Boko Haram financier within the Nigerian Central Bank. Independently we are able to give backing to that claim, even to the extent of naming the individual. In the process of our enquiries, we solicited the help of a foreign embassy whose government, we learnt, was actually on the same trail, thanks to its independent investigation into some money laundering that involved the Central Bank.

“That name, we confidently learnt, has also been passed on to President Jonathan. When he is ready to abandon his accommodating policy towards the implicated, even the criminalized, an attitude that owes so much to re-election desperation, when he moves from a passive `letting the law to take its course’ to galvanizing the law to take its course, we shall gladly supply that name,” Soyinka said.

  2. the thinking faculties of the prof.has expired due to old age.that is why he is now a wheel barrow in the hands of the opposition parties and they pushing him against the president and his people. but sir i surgest u desist from such unclean atitude before it is too late and in other to retain ur good reputations and don’t allow ur self to desend so low that those children in apc would use u to blackmail the president after all u are in better position to give an advice for the betterment of us all, than to be criticising the presiden.

  3. Its no longer heroic to condemn or insult Mr President. Great achievement by GEJ. A rare spiritual value only him knows. The prof ought to know this by now.Otherwise regular electricity and food sufficiency targets will be acheived without his support.

  4. Prof. Soyinka is raising serious national issue of concern, and respondents are abusing him. Remember, what an elder sees sitting down, a child on a tree top, sees not. Before BH’s callous activities consume us all, it is time we spoke, to spur the FG into taking timely, and decisive action against terrorism, and the actors behind the deadly sect.
