‘David Mark Did Not Seek Postponement Of 2015 Poll’

David MarkThe Senate President, David Mark, did not call for the postponement of the 2015 general elections, his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, said yesterday.

Ologbondiyan said the clarification became necessary, following alleged misrepresentation of the senate president’s position by a section of the media during Senate’s debate of the security challenge posed by the Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday.

The media aide noted that rather than call for the postponement of the poll, Mark emphasised the danger, which Boko Haram portended to the country if left unchecked.

Ologbondiyan’s statement added that Mark only explained that the issue before the Senate now is not election matters, but how to end the Boko Haram insurgency.
