2015: Beware Of Sycophants’ Endorsement, Sani Warns Jonathan

Shehu_SaniKaduna-based civil rights activist, Comrade Shehu Sani, on Wednesday warned the Presidency to be wary of governors, who claimed they have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for 2015, saying they are sycophants, who do not wish Nigeria well.

He made this known during the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger State Council Press Week at the IBB Pen House, Minna, with the theme “Democratic Dispensation in Nigeria, the way Forward”.

Sani, who is Executive Director of Civil Rights Congress, maintained that if the 2015 general elections was not free and fair, there would be a “revolution” in the country.

Sani, who is also eyeing the Kaduna Central Senatorial ticket on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, said most of the governors that had endorsed Jonathan did not have even his posters or billboards in their homes.

He said, “After the endorsement by these governors, I advise President Jonathan to send investigators to the various states where he has been endorsed and see whether his presence and posters are in their states or even their homes”.

He, however, advised the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure a free, fair and credible elections.

“I have to sound this to the INEC: Come 2015, elections must be different from previous ones and be based on developments that will give hope and restore honour and integrity. The commission must ensure a sincere handover to the rightful winners or risk a revolution”, he said.

Speaking on the negotiation between the federal government and Boko Haram sect, Sani said, “Mr President invited me to go and dialogue with the group but I turned the invitation down because I knew the dialogue will end at nothing but I can assure you that the insurgency will come to an end very soon”.

He also called on the media in the country to be objective in their reports.

Earlier, Chairman of the Niger State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Iliya Garba, while assuring members of a successful week, said, the union would continue to protect its members against unjust arrest.
