Opinion: Reasons Alexis Sanchez is a future prospect for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez is for the future
Alexis Sanchez is for the future

Arsene Wenger’s parsimonious attitude in the transfer market is all squashed and summer mega buy Alexis Sanchez is set to become his talisman for years to come, that makes Suarez miss an episode in a big book with many chapters.

When Arsenal bought Andrie Arshavin for a whooping £15million, that was then the most expensive transfer in the club’s history, majority tipped the diminutive foreigner to have mouth-watering years in England. It was evident in his maiden season.

The Russian, despite appearing in only the second half of the season, managed to display telling contributions that could blind a soothsayer to agree with his potentials. The major highlight of a fabulous debut season was his four goals stellar against Liverpool at Anfield. For his endeavors, he finished second in Arsenal’s player of the season poll and was awarded with the Barclays premier league player of the month for April.

Fast forward to 2 years, the little Russian failed to develop into a Worldclass player as many predicted. His lazy nature culminated to his detriment, and a return to his parent club afterwards highlighted not only an appalling tenor, but an unusual failed acquisition by the genius Wenger.

So was the case of Gervinho, who even before stepping on the turf, was tipped by the faithful to become the next Ronaldinho due to his dazzling quickfeet. He had an outstanding first season. However the subsequent saw execrable performances that came under scrutiny by the fans, it’s no wonder his departure to Roma was well celebrated.

With two top natural wingers failing to make a living at the North London club, here are some reasons Sanchez case would be different

1- Gunners Midfield is well equipped for the future

With or without Mesut Ozil, Arsenal can boast of a decent midfield capable of causing massive destruction to any side, albeit his presence makes a formidable force. It took only 10 minutes for the German star-man to make his trademark assist in the English Premier League, and who was at the receiving end? Giroud.

The former Montelliper striker couldn’t have asked for a better supply line setup last season, but surprisingly still fell short in goals. This is ostensibly is down to his inconsistent and sluggish demeanor infront of goal.

Alexis Sanchez is capable of replacing the french forward in the central striker berth, and his incredible finishing ability makes him a big threat. Interestingly, if Wenger opts to use the Chilean from the right, he’s still eligible to receive benefits from the middle of the park, as his pace and desire to change positions around the attacking line makes him available. Not forgetting he would also receive countless assists from Olivier Giroud.

Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are all future prospects for the Gunners team, and with the boss set to build the team’s attacking fulcrum around them, expect more consistent supplies for Sanchez.

2- His versatile nature makes him a stand out.

A major reason Arshavin failed to make an impact at Arsenal in his second season was his desire to play through the middle; behind the striker.

Unfortunately though, the Gaffer was defiant to grant such fantasy. Unable to adapt to the preferred role assigned by the club lead to his extinction.

Alexis Sanchez would have no qualms with whatever role in the attacking department presented to him. Even though the fans prefer him in the central slot, the 25-year old is equally adept in the right. In the course of a managerial change, with the new coach implementing a new philosophy, Sanchez can buy into his idea

3- Arsene Wenger’s stay is an advantage

If there’s one man who will be highly influential in Alexis Sanchez future at the club, is the man who brought him to the country. Wenger’s admirable philosophy has seen him develop players that seen some become world class credentials. A case of Cesc Fabregas. Farmed out from the La Masia academy, the Spaniard under the tutelage of Wenger developed from an unknown teenager with precarious talents, to an illustrious sportsman.

Or the recent revelation of Aaron Ramsey. The season prior to his breakthrough, many pointed fingers at the Welsh man anytime his team lost a football game, even though genuinely wasn’t a culprit.

However, an undeterred Arsene Wenger never bought into the critic’s logic-Ramsey is no longer the chap who gives a redundant back pass under immense pressure.

Sanchez decision to snub Liverpool for the Emirates was the major turning point in his career. Unlike in Barcelona where he is required to feed and play second-fiddle to Messi, In Arsenal, he’s the focal point.
